Shawn Putnam

Shawn Putnam, APRN

Director of Nursing

With over 15 years of experience at leading hospitals, Shawn brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to CPM. He has supported advancing CPM’s patient care model for more than a decade, directing care management, clinical care coordination and integrating newer methods and strategies into the patient’s care plan. As part of his role, he provides direct oversight of daily nursing operations and works closely with Dr. Grahling at diagnosing and treating a variety of acute and chronic pain conditions.  

 

Shawn grew up in upstate New York and attended the State University of New York at Potsdam graduating Cum Laude with a degree in biology. He then attended Springfield College and received a Master of Science in Exercise Physiology. He earned a Master of Science in Nursing with a Family Nurse Practitioner focus at Boston College.  

 

Before joining CPM, Shawn began his career as a floor nurse in the medical/surgical unit at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, MA. His next role was as a nurse practitioner at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center on the Hepatobiliary Pancreatic Cancer team.  

 

Throughout his career, Shawn served on various organizations supporting nursing quality, care and advancement  to help achieve up-to-date evidence based treatment. He is a member of the Connecticut Pain Society.

 

Shawn is passionate about CPM’s comprehensive approach to pain management. He enjoys working with patients to find the best treatment plan for each individual. With a passion for caring for people when they need it most, he believes “there is no greater satisfaction than to improve a patient’s quality of life and functional capacity.”
